Whether you have chronic neck or back pain or the problem began suddenly, chiropractic treatment can help relieve your pain. Our neck pain, back painHouma, LA, chiropractor, Dr. Patrick Haydel, discusses neck and back pain and explains how you can benefit from chiropractic treatment.

Neck and back pain causes can be subtle

If you don't remember injuring yourself, you may wonder why your neck and back have suddenly started to hurt. In many cases, your daily activities may be to blame. Whether you work at a desk job or drive a truck, you probably spend hours with your shoulders hunched over and your neck bent. Eventually, you'll begin to feel the effects of maintaining this position.

Text neck is another potential source of back and neck problems. Most people hold cell phones and other handheld devices at about waist level, which requires keeping your neck bent to text, surf the web or play games. When you keep your neck in such an awkward position for hours every day, it's not surprising that you begin to develop back and neck pain. Text neck can cause chronic headaches, numbness and tingling, a change in your posture and pain and stiffness in your neck, upper back and shoulders.

Chiropractic treatment targets the source of your pain

Pain pills can help ease your pain temporarily. Unfortunately, if you don't address the cause of your pain, it may not go away on its own. When you visit our Houma office we'll perform a thorough examination that may include X-rays and ask questions about your work, hobbies, past injuries and lifestyle. This information will help us develop a diagnosis and treatment plan for your neck and back pain.

Pain can occur due to a misalignment in your spine that affects your range of motion and causes muscle stiffness and pain. Chiropractic manipulations realign your spine, improving range of motion, decreasing pain and increasing blood flow to the area.

Manipulations aren't the only way we treat pain. Your treatment may also include heat or ice applications, massage therapy, electrical stimulation and ultrasound treatment. We'll also recommend a few stretches and exercises that you can do throughout the day to reduce stress on your neck and back.

Don't let neck and back pain take over your life. Call our Houma, LA, chiropractor, Dr. Haydel, at (985) 872-1133 to schedule an appointment.
